Frequently asked questions

Delivery, returns, sizing and the shops. If your question is not here, phone a branch — you will get someone who plays.

Ordering & delivery

How long does delivery take?

Orders are processed between 09:00 and 13:30 Monday to Friday, and generally dispatched within 24 to 48 hours excluding weekends. Orders placed over a weekend are processed the following Monday. We do not offer 24-hour delivery.

Why is my order taking longer than expected?

Our stock is divided across eight branches countrywide. If your order has two or more items they may be in different provinces, and have to be couriered to one location before the courier can collect. Multi-item orders need extra time.

My order says completed but it has not arrived. What does that mean?

Completed means the courier has collected your order and it is on its way to you. You should receive an email with tracking details once collection has happened.

Can I collect my order from a branch?

Yes, from any of our eight branches. Please wait for the email from the online team confirming your order is ready before travelling — stock often has to come across from another branch first.

Do you deliver anywhere in South Africa?

Yes, we courier countrywide.

Returns & exchanges

What is your returns policy?

Returns work in two tiers. Within 14 days of your parcel arriving you get a full refund to your original payment method. Within 30 days you can exchange the item or take a gift card in store, or store credit if you return by courier. The item must be unused, in its original packaging with tags attached, and you need proof of purchase.

Can I return a cricket bat?

Only if it is unused. A bat that has been knocked in, oiled or used in a net cannot be returned as unused. If you are unsure about the size, phone a branch before you start preparing it.

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

Contact us with your order number and a photograph. Under the Consumer Protection Act you are entitled to have a defective item repaired, replaced or refunded, and manufacturer warranties apply on top of that.

Can I exchange something for a different size?

Yes, within 30 days, and the item must be unused. An exchange is the more generous window: a refund is 14 days, an exchange or gift card is 30. Availability decides the turnaround, since a swap sometimes needs a transfer between branches.

Choosing gear

What size cricket bat does my child need?

Bat size is decided by height, not age. A quick South African shortcut: for a child of average height the bat size usually matches their school grade, so Grade 4 takes a size 4. Grade 7 is the exception because no size 7 exists, so those players use a Harrow. By height: 152 to 160cm is a size 5, 160 to 165cm a size 6, 165 to 170cm a Harrow, and 175cm and up a short handle. Stand the player up in batting shoes and the top of the handle should reach roughly the top of the thigh.

What does knocking in a bat mean, and do I have to do it?

Knocking in compresses the willow fibres in the face and edges so the bat can take the impact of a cricket ball without denting or cracking. Most bats need it before first use unless they are sold pre-prepared. Ask the branch whether a specific bat has been prepared — and note that once knocked in, a bat can no longer be returned as unused.

What weight cricket ball should I use?

Under the Laws of Cricket a mens ball is 156g, a womens ball 142g, and junior balls run 133 to 141g. Which you need is usually set by the league or school you play in.

Do you stock left-handed gear?

Yes. Batting gloves, pads and keeping gear come in left and right-hand versions, shown in the size options as LH and RH. If you are unsure which you need, phone a branch.

Which brands do you carry?

Gunn & Moore, Gray-Nicolls, Kookaburra, SS, SG, MRF, DSC, New Balance, Adidas, Puma, Masuri and Shrey for cricket. Grays, Osaka, TK, Princess and Brabo among others for hockey.

Do you sell hockey equipment as well as cricket?

Yes. Hockey sticks, shoes, protective gear, bags and balls. We are a cricket and hockey pro shop.

Our shops

Where are your shops?

Eight branches: Wanderers in Illovo Johannesburg, SuperSport Park in Centurion, Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban, Alberton, Brooklyn in Pretoria, Potchefstroom and Benoni. Addresses and phone numbers are on our stores page.

What are your trading hours?

All eight branches trade 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm on Saturday, and are closed on Sunday. Stadium branches can keep longer hours on a match day, so phone ahead if you are heading to the cricket. The online shop takes orders 24/7.

Can I check whether a branch has something in stock?

Phone the branch directly. Stock is split across all eight, so the branch can tell you whether an item is on their floor or needs to come across.

Still stuck? WhatsApp the order line on 082 443 9703 — answered within 24 hours — or email [email protected].

For gear advice, phoning the branch nearest you is usually quicker and better.
